From Murmansk to Volgograd What we saw on the fifth day of Moscow Fashion Week (1) (1)

So, we are approaching the finale, and, according to all the laws of dramaturgy, it threatens to be enchanting.

We didn’t think that there could be even more screening guests, and at some point the amphitheater in Zaryadye made us doubt its capacity. By the fifth day, the names of the designers got louder and the queues got longer. Look how it was!

On Friday, Moscow Fashion Week continued with shows of well-known and very young brands, presentations of student collections, lectures, and public talks. A series of shows on the fifth day of Moscow Fashion Week at Zaryadye was opened by a collective show of graduates of the British Higher School of Design, which took place in the Great Amphitheater of the park. Also, 9 more designers presented their collections at the site: SASHINA DESIGNER LABEL, SOL ANGEL ANN, BEENA, 1377, Measure, Gerda Irene, VICTORIA ANDREYANOVA, Sasha Gapanovich, and SHATU 1997.

Models dressed as Irina_Kotmi, Mila Anderst, LENALANKO, Nelly Kruk, FIORI Dress Code, and Craft Linen defiled before the audience at VDNKh. Again, the center of events was the square near the Friendship of Peoples fountain. Under the live music of Shanyana & Guru Groove Foundation, 14 brands presented their collections there – Elena Mur couture, art studio KRAPIVA, and Solomattina. Sadali, Floret Moscow, Ami du Diable, Delo Vkusa design workshop, I WANT MORE, DARIA KOLOD, KUZMA by Natalia Kuzmenko, Lus’en (Lucien), PAVLOVA, Elena Peresvet, KONTUR fashion studio and designer Irina Radysh.

5 shows that day were held on Tverskaya Square: Wearnost (Loyalty), AGNIX, JUDY GREEN & Anna Skorokhodova Accessorize, Masha Goryacheva, and Catarina Nova. Shows were also held in various cultural institutions of the city. Until the end of the weekend, markets are open for everyone, where more than 200 Moscow and Russian brands are represented. In addition to the already launched stores in Zaryadye, with the participation of the online platform for local brands LCLS.RU and in the Northern Tunnel, offering clothes, shoes, and accessories, new markets opened on Friday – on Tverskoy Boulevard, Seasons Shopping Gallery, and Tverskaya Square.

The B2B showroom of designer brands at the Fashion Museum in Gostiny Dvor continues to operate. The full list of participating brands is available at: https://moscowfashion.ru/showroom. Moscow Fashion Week shows are available online: live broadcasts are held on the VKontakte platform in the community and in the VK Video section.

On the fifth day of Moscow Fashion Week, Zaryadye showed their collections:

British Higher School of Design

The show of the graduates of the FVE Fashion Design program of the British Higher School of Design took place in the Great Amphitheater of Zaryadye Park. The show was attended by former students of three editions at once – 2020, 2021, and 2022. The show, which was attended by 15 designers, was divided into four blocks. In the first, young talents reflected on the topic of form and proportions. Distinctive features of this block are asymmetrical cut, deconstruction elements, and experiments with the shape of classical elements.

The second block was devoted to the interaction of color and material. Models walked the catwalk in fancy bright outfits, decorated with feathers, drapery, and accent prints. The picturesque third block was inspired by the Pre-Raphaelites. It featured outfits with flowing lines and pure colors. The fourth block was filled with avant-garde looks, in which designers used complex cuts and purity of forms.

SASHINA DESIGNER LABEL (St. Petersburg)

The inspiration for the creation of the new collection was John Everett Millais’ painting “The Death of Ophelia” and how the artist masterfully depicted nature and the moment between life and death. The line includes textured asymmetric cut dresses, decorated with slits on the sleeves, overlapping fabrics, fringes, and ornaments created by hand using spray paint.

The women’s line included blouses and dresses with voluminous sleeves, flowing combinations, golden and blue capes, as well as sets with loose blouses and skirts. Men’s images were jackets-shirts with accent cuts, trousers with a classic and unusual cut, and coats in metallic color.

SOL ANGELANN

Brand designer Irena Soprano presented a “radiant” collection in which each outfit was decorated with a scattering of crystals. When creating a new line, a unique technique was used for applying crystals of various shapes to the fabric, developed in a special workshop based in the SOL Atelier studio. The new collection includes shimmery evening dresses, tops and miniskirts, jackets, a whole series of short dresses, trousers, and a feather top. Fringe, marabou feather trim, minimalist bows in rhinestones, and shiny lacing acted as decor. The key colors of the collection are black and silver.

BEENA

Designer Albina Kan was inspired by the aesthetics of the 2000s and the cherry blossom season. The dominants in the new collection are unusual silhouettes created with the help of ruffles and voluminous collars, and the patchwork technique. The line includes flared trousers, jackets with an accent line on the shoulders, cropped jackets, and mini-dresses of complex shapes. The bright color palette includes many shades: from basic black to alluring pink and purple. When creating the collection, natural materials were used: silk, cotton, mixed fabrics based on natural fibers, and denim.

1377 (Volgograd)

The inspiration for the collection “13 registers” was the principle of operation of button accordion, accordion, and accordion bellows. The idea found its embodiment in the visual volume of products from the new line, and also integrated into the details of some things. On the podium were men’s and women’s suits with floral motifs, shirts with patch pockets, a mesh T-shirt, dresses made of lightweight fabrics, men’s vests, and overalls. The images were complemented by twigs of field plants and shoes resembling bast shoes.

Measure

Brand designer Zainab Saidulaeva always experiments with cultural codes in her collections. This time, the inspiration for the new line was the cultural heritage of Dagestan and the traditions of the Russian peasantry, reflected in Richelieu’s embroidery. The collection, made mainly in cream and pastel colors, in addition to trouser suits, flowing maxi skirts, and jackets, in a rethought form included a traditional Dagestan garment – a shepherd’s cloak. The unique moment of the collection is that all products with embroidery are made from vintage napkins and presented in a single copy. Balaclavas became the main accessory of the collection.

Gerda Irene

When creating a new collection, designer Irina Gerda was inspired by the Rococo era and the aesthetics of the 70s. The basis of both female and male images were corsets created according to patterns of the 18th century. Each product in the line – clothing and accessories – was created from items found at flea markets, as well as from vintage lace and other unique elements. The upcycle collection includes jackets, shirts, skirts, jeans, dresses, trousers, and jackets made using the patchwork technique.

VICTORIA ANDREYANOVA

The new collection of designer Victoria Andreyanova was developed jointly with Shuisky Sitzy, the largest cotton producer with a 200-year history. Loose silhouettes, colorful prints, and bright colors diluted with a pure white tint are the key features of the brand’s new line. Maxi dresses and oversized shirts, suits with a jacket at the waist and wide trousers, and short and long coats were presented on the catwalk.

Sasha Gapanovich (Murmansk)

Brand designer Sasha Gapanovich presented the Unity collection filled with memories of simple things and sincere feelings from childhood. Hand knitting, ruffles, volume work, and layering are iconic touches she always uses. In order to convey a sense of wear and outdated texture through clothes, Sasha Gapanovich used raw seams and boiled calico. The collection includes knitted capes, bonnets and jumpers, quilted items of exaggerated forms, a down jacket, dresses, and trousers of a complex cut.

SHATU 1997 (Kirov)

The inspiration for the designer Svetlana Shatunova when creating the cruise collection was the work of the Pre-Raphaelites and the image of a girl muse. In the line, classic silhouettes are combined with airy fabrics and floral prints, which creates an overall light mood of the collection. Trouser suits, romantic dresses with lace and frills, knitted bras and shorts, a weightless organza trench coat, and pajama-style sets were presented on the catwalk. The final chord of the show was a wedding look, consisting of a minimalist dress and a light veil.
