How to stop procrastinating

Last week we found out that the habit of putting things off until later is called procrastination. And, let’s be honest, everyone, without exception, suffers from this. Today I WANT to offer a couple of simple ways not to put off important things for later.

Of course, we don’t tend to put it off for later to go for a walk or eat something tasty. Most often, we are in no hurry to solve problems with banks, call electricians, or explain to the client. In other words, we tend to put off difficult or unpleasant tasks until later. As a result, deadlines are “burning” and we are in a hurry to do “today for yesterday”. How to deal with it?

Make a list

The list of obligatory cases in front of your eyes disciplines and streamlines the flow of thoughts. Such lists can be written both for a week and for a day. In addition, the schedule subconsciously requires “stay the course.” And if you also write down a deadline. A definite plus – a painful task from a gloomy absorbing thought turns into just one of the items on the list. It is very cool if after it there is an easy and pleasant task – this will spur you to do the unpleasant.

Start badly in the morning

Certainly not after the alarm goes off. After fragrant morning coffee, make a habit of doing one small unpleasant task. For example, calling a plumber or a negligent client. This is analogous to how to jump from a height. Instead of being mentally distracted throughout the day by solving this issue, it’s easier to jump in the morning with a running start. Plus: the list is one item shorter and the number of unpleasant thoughts per day is halved.

Find a company for especially painful tasks

Make an “accomplice” a colleague, or a family member. You can morally consult for support or discuss with humor, you can ask for help. Communication will help overcome the barrier of “impregnability” of a difficult task – it is always more willing to work in a company.

Learn to enjoy complex tasks

A difficult or unpleasant task requires more effort, but it is also more satisfying to solve it. Learn to feel satisfied that yes, you could! You did it! You can reward yourself with mini-gifts. Take time to prepare
