Bosch, eBay classifieds, and Lidl scored points with their promotional videos on Youtube in 2020. In 2020, all three brands were represented several times in the monthly German Top 5 of the so-called “Youtube Ads Leaderboards” and, according to Youtube, have “both a positive sentiment of over 90 percent and above-average, relative audience loyalty”.

Bosch convinces with originality

The global IoT image campaign #LikeABosch, which started in 2019, includes several short films in which the protagonist solves tricky situations with technical skill thanks to networked solutions from Bosch. “Bosch’s campaign shows how a simple idea that is highly original and entertaining can have a long-term effect. And this both in Germany and internationally and across all content-related topics, ”says Henry Bose, Creative Lead, Google Germany.

“One of the main drivers of our digital #LikeABosch campaign is the many short films that we have published on YouTube. Since our launch two years ago, we have achieved more than 100 million views on YouTube and in Germany alone. Our rapping everyday hero has now become a symbol of the Internet of Things, ”says Boris Dolkhani, Vice President of Corporate Marketing, Brand Management & Strategy, Bosch.

eBay classifieds perfected “native advertising” on Youtube

eBay classifieds are represented nine times in the monthly German Youtube Ads Leaderboards 2020 – and with two different formats: the Youtuber flatshare with “Klein aber Hannah”, “Malternativ” and “Tommy Toalingling” as well as the campaign “Let’s act”.

“On YouTube, we rely on videos that were specially produced for the platform. Both the reactions to our weekly sitcom ‘The eBay Classifieds WG’ and to our music video series #lasstunshandeln show that we are doing the right thing with our strategy. We are very happy to be among the 2020 winners ”, says Frida Elisson, CMO at eBay Classifieds.

Lidl’s branding approach

The food discounter Lidl has represented a total of five times in the monthly Youtube Ads Leaderboards in Germany in 2020, with three of the spots landing in first place.

The YouTube Ads Leaderboard 2020 shows the most creative brands and their promotional videos that YouTube viewers viewed in the past year. It is based on a Top 60 shortlist, based on the monthly Top 5 Youtube Ads Leaderboards in Germany 2020. The shortlist was determined with the help of Youtube Analytics Tools for positive anomalies in terms of brand frequency, organic reach, audience loyalty, and sentiment (likes vs. dislikes) checked.
