SEX DURING MENSTRUATION – GOOD OR BAD?

SEX DURING MENSTRUATION

Often during menstruation, we deny ourselves sexual pleasure. Most often, girls worry that they themselves or their partner will experience discomfort. Is it possible to have sex during menstruation and how to do it correctly – Anna Polosenko, an obstetrician-gynecologist at the ICSI Clinic reproductive health clinic, answers all the exciting questions.

Sex is one of the most wonderful mysteries available to every person and makes him different from all other living beings on Earth.

For reference: besides us humans, carnal pleasures for the sake of pleasure, and not for procreation, are characteristic only of dolphins and bonobo pygmy chimpanzees.

Sex consciousness, of goodwill, with a person close (or at least pleasant) to us, is healing for the body, for the soul, and for relationships. It can be anytime and anywhere, as you and your partner want.

Myths and truths about sex during menstruation

Periodically, my patients ask the question “Sex during menstruation – good or bad?”. Let’s start with the fact that there are many myths about sex during critical days. Let’s deal with them!

  • “You can’t get pregnant during your period” (You can!)
  • “During menstruation, you cannot get infected with HIV and STDs” (You can!);
  • “You can’t masturbate during your period” (Yes you can!)

There is also a belief that sex contributes to longer and more painful periods. But this is just the opposite case. The contraction and relaxation of the muscles of the uterus during orgasm, on the contrary, relieves pain. And Their Majesty Endorphins, who visit us during sex on an official visit, improve mood. Which, of course, contributes to an easier flow of menstruation.

And, by the way, the contractions of the uterus mentioned above lead to a more active separation of the endometrium, which contributes to a faster end of menstruation.

If you answer the question “Is it possible to have sex during menstruation?” In a word, this word is “It is possible”. Of course, with an asterisk footnote: “If it doesn’t cause emotional discomfort for you and your partner.”

How to have sex during your period

Someone spreads a dark towel on the bed, keeping wet wipes at hand, others these days prefer to have sex in the bath or in the shower. You can use a special diaphragm or a female condom: this prevents blood, but not sensations.

Let’s recap! Good sex implies the absence of any taboos and restrictions if it does not cause physical, psychological, or emotional discomfort to you or your partner. Listen to each other. Hear each other! Be attentive to yourself and to your body every day and I will be grateful to you all your long and happy life!
